Welcome to WGI

Warwick Graduate Internships (WGI) programme, part-funded by Santander Universities and generous donations from Warwick alumni and friends, is offering paid 6-week full-time internships with SMEs & Charities. Did you know that 73% of last year’s interns on WGI Programme ended up with further work? 

To participate in WGI, you must:

1. have registered your interest in the programme

2. be able to answer Yes to ALL of the following criteria:

  • I completed my undergraduate studies (including integrated undergraduate Master's e.g. MMORSE, MPhys) at The University of Warwick in July 2017

  • I am NOT due to begin postgraduate studies at any institution during the next year

  • I was previously registered as a UK/EU home student at The University of Warwick, paying UK/EU Home fees, and was resident in the UK during my studies.

  • I am legally entitled to work full-time in the UK during the period 3 January to 28 February 2018, and that if required, can produce the appropriate ID and/or visa to demonstrate this. 

3. be able to start WGI internship between 3 and 9 January 2018, if appointed.

Note: Due to the nature of our funding, international graduates are not eligible to participate in the WGI programme.

Note: Host employers are under no obligation to maintain their internship offer nor can they guarantee their internship offer to you if they do not receive WGI funding. Your delay in accepting an internship offer may affect whether your host employer is awarded funding to deliver the internship.

Student Careers& Skills will support WGI interns with a pre-internship guidance and preparation, facilitating your work-readiness and enabling you to hit the ground running when you start your internship.  As a WGI intern, you will enjoy a CV enhancing internship experience, engaging on a specific project or short term assignment.

WGI participants must be committed to the strict programme schedule below.

WGI Programme Timeline

2 – 18 October

Vacancies live on MyAdvantage.  Apply via WGI application form (plus other employer requirements) DIRECTLY to employer.

19 Oct – 10 Nov

Employer recruitment period. If shortlisted, the employer will contact you directly for interview.

19 Oct – 17 Nov

If offered an internship, you must communicate acceptance in writing DIRECTLY to employer ASAP. The employer needs your acceptance to apply for WGI funds which are  allocated on a first come first served basis.

8 Dec

Internship documents sent to employers and interns.

15 Dec

Interns complete and return WGI documents to Warwick.

8 - 22 Dec

Interns prepare for internship using the ‘Getting the most out of your internship’ document and the WGI Mahara resources and contact employers to confirm the arrangements for start of internship.

3 Jan – 9 Jan 2018
